Okay, it's no secret that I'm a far cry from Giada,
but man, you've got to give it to me when it comes to planning an unplanned dinner.
That makes no sense, but you know that moment when you realize that you have planned absolutely nothing for dinner, but alas, you must eat?
That happened last night.
Chad surprised me by coming home early from class
{happy dance},
which completely disrupted my Monday night ritual of popping in a Lean Cuisine and chowing down.
Oh shoot,
I thought,
I haven't planned a darn thing for dinner, and we're out of LC's. Poop.
So after informing my man that unless I make Giada's pork chops
{which are to die for},
then we are out of luck.
Those are going to take for-ev-er, though, babe.....
we were both whiney. Like two year olds.
Is there anything else we can do?
And I agreed, because not one fiber in my body wanted to make those darn things, anyway.
Hmm.
How about this? I'll make these Pillsbury Dough Boy croissants, and we'll have grapes on the side. Sound good?
To which he answered,
Okay, let's stuff them with cheese and chicken.
So we sat and ate chicken and cheese filled croissants with a side of grapes for dinner last night.
And you know what?
It got me thinking, see??
I thought, hey cat, this is fun stuff, hangin' here with my man just eatin' like a college student.
Because life ain't about grandiose dinners,
and perfect manners....
It's about impromptu dinnas made at the spur of the moment around 9:15,
it's about givin' that man of yours a back scratch,
it's about accepting all those foot massages that husband throws your way
.....ahem.....
it's about chicken and cheese filled croissants with a side of grapes.
I'll be linking up here, my friends.
I'll take a spur of the moment dinner at the table (especially with that mtn dew!) over a tv dinner any day. That's one of my favorite things, to sit with the family and eat... whatever it is that we have on hand lol :) God bless!
ReplyDeleteVery clever... my random dinner is usually cereal! lol!
ReplyDeleteThose sound yummy actually! Anything in a croissant is yummy!
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahh LOVE this. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT
ReplyDeleteHaha I just came across your blog and I love it! Being in college, this is pretty much what every dinner looks like for me, but I love it! It is fun to just get creative and see what you come up with. Plus, I'd rather spend the rest of my time with friends and family anyways :)
ReplyDeleteThose things are amazing!! you made them for me when I came over!! drooling now
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so cute!!
ReplyDeleteI smiled SO big when I read this post, because guess what The Hubs and I had for dinner last night? Mini croissants stuffed with cheese and pepperoni. It took all of 20 minutes to prepare, cook and serve! Sometimes eating like a college student is the way to go!
ReplyDeleteVisiting and now following you from Jami's "We Encourage" link-up. And I'm liking you so much, already! :)
Aloha,
Angie
