Okay, it's a somewhat sticky one, but man oh man, is it important.
So let's dive right in, shall we?
{And by the way, this is the deepest we are reaching within our fabulous small business savvy souls, because next week - our last week of link ups, still crying about it - is party time. Yep, it's going to be FUN!}
Anyway, let's get going!
Today's LINK UP CHALLENGE is:
since we have written out our goals like a Fortune 500 CEO would, what has been holding you back from executing those goals? Time? Sales force? Capital? Equipment? A lack of networking opportunities?
{Examining such reasons may seem pointless, but it is actually quite important in the "evaluation" process of goal setting. So you are going to look back on what you have done to help your small business up until this point, and EVALUATE why you haven't reached the goals you set on Tuesday. Hindsight is one of our most important tools, so USE IT!}
Okay, so my goals from Tuesday were:
1. Three's {4} Me will launch a minimum 10 item Spring line of Ties for Tots on March 1, 2012, and to release a minimum 10 item Fall line of Ties for Tots on September 1, 2012.
2. Three's {4} Me will attend a minimum of four craft fairs by December 1, 2012.
Man, I feel like I'm explaining myself to a judge or something.
Or my mom when I did something bad as a little kid.
"Well, uh, mom....I didn't mean to not clean my room...."
Anyway, OKAY!
1. What has been holding me back from reaching this goal is the fact that it is VERY VERY VERY new. As in only days old. Well, okay, maybe that's not completely true.....You see, I was reading some savvy small business owner's blog awhile back {way before SBM}, and she said that this is what she does with her business to keep herself accountable. Hmm, that's pretty cool.
But as I was driving home from my mother-in-law's birthday party the other night, I started thinking about how gosh darn bare my shop is right now, and how I should become more organized with stocking it. Then it hit me: have two distinct launch dates.
Oh, duh.
Okay, so that's what's been holding me back: TIME.
2. Oh, craft fairs. Here's the thing: I was invited to one recently, and I had to turn it down. Not because I didn't WANT to participate, but this was another TIME issue. You see, Babe #2 has me on a short leash, and I would have been biting off WAY more than I could chew. I would have to CREATE everything I was going to sell, and I would have to ORGANIZE my booth/books/everything under the sun. I know my body, and I know it would have been too much, so I declined. And I'm sad about it.
So what's been holding me back on this one: BIOLOGY.
Not my favorite reason, because my head says "yes" but my body says "no," and I don't like that, but that's the way it goes, and in order to keep myself sane, I have to listen the bod.
Here's another thing with this challenge: I sort of feel like I just conjured up a heck of a lot of excuses for what I see as shortcomings,
BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT!
The point is that it's important to look back on what's been going on in your small business and to EVALUATE those going-ons in order to pull forward and push against what you see to be your hindrances.
Of course, there's something's we just have no power over, {ie.- being tired as a dog because you're pregnant, or your two-year-old getting a cold}, but it helps us to delegate our time better and to really point out what may or may not be in the way of achieving ultimate success.
SEE?!
IMPORTANT!
Okay, now it's your turn!
