Now, let's get back to our networking platform:
LINK UP CHALLENGE #4!
Oh, how I love Tuesdays and Thursdays!
THEY ARE FABULOUS.
just.fabulous.
Okay, so today we're getting down and dirty with our small businesses.
We're going to really THINK.
We're going to really DIG,
and we are going to really LEARN a thing or two about what we can do to help ourselves.
Here's our CHALLENGE:
DIVERSIFYING YOUR AUDIENCE: Really think here: What are a few ways you can do this? Could you attend a craft fair? Should you attend more craft fairs with different demographics? What about guest posting on other people's blogs? What about thinking outside the box and guest posting on a man's blog to promote your products to his wife? Should you advertise outside of blog world? REALLY think about this one. Tell what you can do to DIVERSIFY YOUR AUDIENCE more than you already have up until this point.
I don't know about you, but this one was tough for me.
It's actually quite difficult to think outside the box.
It's tough to vary from what you know has worked for you, or for so many other people.
But here are a few of the ideas I came up with:
{starting with the most obvious}
* I should sign myself up to work a craft fair. Nope, I have not done this yet, and I hear it's the way to go. Everyone tells me how much fun they are and how much money you can make, but really, what a great way to connect with customers on a personal level. I know I really need to do this, so do it I shall! {Once I figure out if Babe #2 will allow me to do so....It's not lookin' too bright at this point.}
* I should advertise on more blogs. Honestly, this is a no-brainer, because I've had nothing but positive experiences with the ladies I have advertised with so far, but sometimes, just sometimes, I can be a cheapo. There, I said it. I know my mantra in business world is in order to make money, you have to spend it, but that's actually more difficult for me to put into practice than it is to say. I'm working on it, though, and it DEFINITELY helps that my husband is the one who taught me said mantra, so he is okay with spending the extra dough. I'm about 95% positive that I'm going to do it this come November.
* Reach out and guest post on a man's blog about my Little Man Neckties. This was my man's idea, and he is a genius. Something like that would NEVER have occurred to me! {Well, I hate to say statements like that, but it sure would have taken me a heck of a long time to think of it, that's for sure.} In complete honesty, I've been researching men's/daddy blogs for the last few days, and so far I'm liking what I'm seein'.
* Write myself up a press release and send it to parenting magazines for photo shoots. This one would be the mother of them all, and I got the idea from our latest Heavy-Hitter Q&A goddess: HEATHER from JUST.LOVELY.THINGS. This is what she did, and that's how she struck up that deal with Seventeen Magazine. Honestly, amazing.
Okay, there you have it!
AFTER WRITING THAT OUT IN BLACK AND WHITE, I'M FEELING SORT OF MELANCHOLY.
Are you?
I mean, there it is, right there in front of me.
Why have I not done any one of those yet?
AND THAT'S WHY I'M LOVING SMALL BUSINESS MONTH,
in all seriousness.
{Can you tell I'm having family-blogging withdrawals? I miss them around these parts....An update coming soon}
Okay, now it's your turn!!
HOW CAN YOU DIVERSIFY YOUR AUDIENCE?
{Or make it larger?}
